The Chamaerops Vulcano is an exclusive variation of the Chamaerops humilis and only occurs on the small island of Vulcano near Sicily. The Vulcano has a particularly compact growth and small magazine. This Palm therefore seems much heavier and fuller than the humilis and is therefore preferred by garden designers and collectors. The Chamaerops Vulcano also remains small and compact in the wild.
Seasonal product?
The Chamaerops Vulcano is in principle available all year round, but due to the small numbers that are available per year, our stock is often sold out quickly.

Care
This palm needs a sunny location, even full sun, and very well drained soil. During dry, warm summers, water 3 to 4 times a week, depending on the bottom, because the palm should not be too wet. Fertilize the Palm once a year with our concentrated plant food, and fertilize with a liquid plant food every two weeks.  Just like with every palm, the oldest, brown leaf should be cut as close as possible to the trunk. Brown points can be cut. This has no further effect on the palm.
In the winter
The Chamaerops Vulcano can survive with a dry winter to -8 to -10 ° C.  It is important that the palm is well protected in the winter and that the soil remains as dry as possible.  This palm is particularly sensitive to the combination of cold and moisture. It is therefore important to properly protect this palm in the Dutch winters against snow, hail or rain. If the palm stays in a pot, it must also be completely packed with a pot protection cover. Ventilate the wintering room well so that the palm does not increase mold.
